Jackie Young Under 6.5 Assists (-120)
Young compiled 11 assists in Saturday’s win over the Los Angeles Sparks. Because of the performance, she’s now averaging 8.5 assists per game early in the season. But despite her great performance on Saturday, she had just six assists in Tuesday’s opener and would have failed to go over this total.
Young hasn’t averaged over 3.9 assists per game since her first season in the league. Last season, she averaged 3.8 per contest. Perhaps she is in line for a career year in 2024, but because of her history, we’re backing her to level off tonight. Expect her to miss this number by two or three dishes.
Rhyne Howard Over 2.5 Made Three-Pointers (-120)
Howard has made eight three-pointers in two games this season. In Saturday’s loss to the Mercury, she was 5-of-9 from deep. In her previous two seasons in the WNBA, Howard has averaged 2.5 made three-pointers per game. So, while she’s off to a hotter start than usual, nothing indicates that her shooting will drop significantly.
The biggest concern ahead of tonight’s game is that the Wings’ defense is allowing opponents to make just 23.7% of their three-pointers this season. However, both of their games have been against the Chicago Sky. With how well Howard and the rest of the Atlanta Dream can shoot from deep, they should have no trouble making shots from beyond the arc despite the Wings’ numbers.
Dearica Hamby Under 18.5 Points (-110)
Hamby is averaging 24.5 points this season after scoring at least 20 in each of her first two games. However, it’s very unlikely that this type of production will continue throughout the season. Hamby is in her ninth season and has never averaged over 13.0 points per game for a year.
The Mystics are allowing 84.3 points per game to start the season. Yet, even with them allowing so many points, this is still a prime spot for Hamby to drop not just below 20 points but closer to her career average of 9.3 points per game. She’s off to a hot start, but that won’t continue tonight.
